On Wednesday 18 October 2017, Heather Roy, Education Co-ordination for the British Red Cross came to the church to give a four hour First Aid Training. This was to give participants confidence in dealing with someone choking, not breathing, having a heart attack, a stroke, a burn, bleeding heavily or having taken something harmful. They were able to try giving chest compressions on an adult and a baby manikin and experience giving back blows and abdominal thrusts using a cleaver choking rescue training vest. All seven now have a basic knowledge of how to react to these scenarios but hope they will never have to!
